Aerial Silks

RUN AWAY TO THE CIRCUS! – AGES 7+
Aerial Silks (also known as aerial contortion, aerial ribbons, aerial silks, aerial tissues, fabric, ribbon, or tissu, depending on personal preference) is a type of artistic practice in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a fabric called a Silk. This is a great class to engage your senses & your core muscles and learn how to move your body through space (take that NASA! jk) taking your imagination and self confidence to new heights!

curriculum

Our Aerial silks class Curriculum is broken down into 4 sections including climbs, wraps, drops, and tricks. Climbs are exactly what they sound like – different ways that an aerial performer (called an aerialist) can climb up the silks. There are several different climbing best practices to make the ascent appear as effortless as possible. Wraps are also exactly what they sound like. In a wrap, an aerialist wraps the silk around their body to hold a static pose. Drops are a way to move from pose to pose. In a drop, an aerialist falls downward, rotating or rolling through the silks, until they reach a new static pose or wrap. Tricks, are not only for kids, and are any movement that doesn’t fit into the other 3 movement categories for our aerial silks classes. Climbs, wraps, drops and tricks are all great for engaging balance and stability and developing core muscles. As you progress in skill level, you will notice that your strength will improve. Aerial silks can help children & adult athletes lose weight, build confidence, gain muscle/strength, and become more mentally fit & physically healthy. We’re excited and grateful to be able to offer you Aerial Silks classes at Movement United we wouldn’t be able to do it without our Amazing Aerial Silks Instructors!
