Movement United Class Descriptions

"Exercise not only changes your body. It changes your mind, your attitude, and your mood"

Parkour

Parkour classes work on developing coordination between mind and body. Our coaches help improve physical skills while encouraging mental fortitude to overcome different obstacles in the gym and life. Parkour practice trains your body for quick, efficient movement and your mind to see each obstacle as a challenge to overcome.

"He who conquers himself is the mightiest warrior."

Our Parkour curriculum is broken down into four disciplines: Floor, Vaults, Walls, and Bars. Each Parkour class is centered around 1-2 disciplines, focusing on learning specific skills so that each student can safely progress through basic movements and move on to more flashy flips and tricks.

Movement United Ranks System contains five levels: White, Green, Blue, Purple, and Black. Every new student will begin as a white rank regardless of age, prior experience, or gender. Typically, students who attend 2-3 classes per week can learn skills more quickly and rank up in as little as one month.

Tumbling

Movement United offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced Tumbling Classes for all levels. Our coaches have trained with gymnasts, cheerleaders, divers, wrestlers, and more to perfect the basics of tumbling and progress into more advanced competitive skills.

For those with little to no experience, our begginer tumbling classes concentrate on strength, flexibility, lateral/linear/multiplanar movements, and conditioning. Begginer skills in our tumbling curriculum include rolls, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, and bridge kick overs.

Once students can perform the basic skills without assistance from a coach, we can progress them to connect basic skills to more intermediate and advanced combos such as Back tucks, front tumbling, round-off back handsprings, and other aerials.

Movement United offers group classes at our Farmington Hills location or private courses for cheer squads at the location of your choice. Please get in touch with us for more information.

Aerial Silks

Aerial Silks classes are a great addition to most workout routines. These smaller classes combine climbing practice, helping develop grip, upper-body strength, endurance, and flexibility. Aerial Silks classes are capable of providing anyone with a perfectly-suited aerial experience, whether you are new or a seasoned aerialist wanting to develop your movement vocabulary.

Your instructor will first introduce fundamental skills such as basic inversions, spins, ascensions and descensions, transitions, and linking sequences. Emphasis will be placed on correct form and alignment, proper muscle engagement and evening out imbalances, injury prevention, strength building and endurance, and flexibility, as well as pressure and rotational tolerance (good news, dizziness can be untrained!)

Students will then learn new ways to climb and descend the fabric, control your spin, foot locks in the air, and more inversions. The instructor will also introduce short choreographed sequences from foot locks and hipkey.

Young Heroes

Movement United offers classes for children ages 5 and 6 to begin learning coordination, strength, and flexibility. This 45-minute class is the perfect introduction for anyone interested in parkour, gymnastics, or other sports.

The Young Heroes curriculum combines teaching skills such as bridging, rolling, bear crawls, pikes, and pull-ups with superhero-themed "missions." Parents love that their little ones learn new skills while also burning off that extra energy, so they aren't bouncing around from couch to couch.
